Tennis fun on kids day!

More than 300 children from schools around Liverpool were today introduced to tennis on our official Kids Day!

Laughter, screams of excitement and the sound of quick feet filled the atmosphere at Liverpool Cricket Club, while one could see expressions of deep concentration and eyes keeping peeled on the tennis balls, just as the tennis teachers had instructed beforehand.

Drills varied from hand-eye coordination exercises with and without tennis balls, and progressed to include learning how to hold and play with a tennis racket.

“It was a fun and enjoyable session for all, and we love being part of introducing tennis to kids, stated tennis coach at Liverpool Tennis Centre, Callum Moore.

After the tennis lessons and tennis activities, the kids enjoyed the qualifying finals for the 15th edition of Liverpool Hope University International Tennis Tournament, between Ben Davies (14) and Adam Jones (18).

Getting children involved in tennis and staying active, is an important mission for the tournament. So much so, that the tournament now holds the record of the world´s largest tennis lesson!

The record attempt took place last summer. This year, the record attempt has been ratified by the Guinness Book of records who stated:

“The largest tennis lesson consists of 803 participants and was achieved by Northern Vision (UK), in Liverpool, Merseyside, UK, on 17 June 2015.”
