Bartoli news reached 630 million people globally

Reigning Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli was announced last week as the latest player to join the line-up at this year’s Liverpool Hope University International Tennis Tournament.

The media coverage at this announcement has been nothing but astonishing.

In addition to extenisive local and broadsheet coverage in the UK the news also reached more than 200 quality news websites and papers around the world with a readership reach of more than 630 million. The news have reached Japanese, Russian, Indian,Australian (see on right) media and have been majorly distributed in French and American online channels.

Tournament Director Anders Borg says: “This is exactly the kind of exposure we were hoping for, it’s great for Liverpool being able to be branded as the sporting city in the UK . It is also great news for all our sponsors and partners to be showcased towards such a global audience.”

Marion will take part in a round robin women’s event starting on Thursday the 19th of June with finals being played on Saturday the 21st of June.

The tournament, sponsored by Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Hope University, is currently in its 13th year and has become one of the most popular sporting events in the North West. The 2014 festival is expected to attract a record-breaking number of spectators.
