2013 Finals Day
For the first time ever at a grass court tennis event, two Argentinians made the final in front of a great crowd in Calderstones Park
The final was won by Martin Alund beating fellow countryman Guido Pella 7-6 6-3.
The trophy was presented by tournament director Anders Borg and Lord Mayor of Liverpool Gary Millar.
On winning the title Alund said, “I’ve really enjoyed playing at Liverpool, it has been great practise for Wimbledon next week where I will be playing David Ferrer [4th seed] on the show courts”.
Alund will team up with Pella later on today to take on the Skupski brothers in an Argentina Vs. Great Britain exhibition doubles match.
